Thirteenth of July 2007, uhum, it is Friday the 13th. I remember back then that as each new year began, I have been taking note at the calendar when is the 13th of the year will be. As that day approaches, I had these eerie thoughts and feelings. That it is indeed a not so lucky day, something untoward would happen especially if you come across with a black cat in those 24 hours. I don’t remember who instilled these myths in me and how long I had believed in such. And well, seemingly my common sense and logic were long been absent those times. :p
When I was a high school sophie, we were required to keep a journal, sort of “dear diary thing” which was checked by our Values Education teacher regularly. I can vividly remember she was giggling when she returned mine and uttered, “Friday the 13th” … I got to that day’s entries at once.. Well, haven’t found anything funny in my journal (at my point of view :)… except for the unusual entry that said, “Today is Friday the 13th, I didn’t take a bath because it is bad for the health, blah blah...” I approached my teacher after class and justified that entry was learned from my (now late) grandmother. She explained to me that it is a myth, it has no basis, so on. This began my scrutiny for the reason before believing into something.
Last year, I remember a friend worried that his birth date fell on a Friday. He thought that it is not going to be a good year for him. I was able to convince him that it is just a myth. But then, he rose that 13 as a birth date is definitely not a good number. Well, I am not a numerologist but that number is equivalent to four (4) which means death in numerology. But 13 is not conclusively a bad number, though that is the common connotation. This number implies extremity. If you opted to be bad, then misfortunes are ahead of you and otherwise. Conclusion: be good.
Fallible reason before believing. Numerals don’t dictate. We are the architects of our own fate.
PS. Nothing unusual or eerie happened to me or I was unaware :p Btw, I tried to catch to Dokyu's feature on The Graveyard's Tales at 10:00 PM. But hey, it was almost midnight and this remained unaired :( .... The next day I realized that Dokyu's network is ABC and not IBC, harharhar. But how come I missed it still when I was switching channels to catch it? Maybe, enough on the urband legends, jo :p It was more worthwhile to have watched balikbayan and sabado boys. :p
